How long does a recruitment assignment take?
We aim to start and complete the assignment with the minimum timescale consistent with finding the best possible candidate. This will vary but as a benchmark:
Search: the shortlist is presented at six weeks.
Advertised Selection: the shortlist is presented at four weeks.
What if our requirement changes part way through the project?
We try to be flexible and accommodate changes as part of the evolution of the project, however if the fundamental requirement is significantly altered we would need to agree an additional charge.
What happens if you can’t find the right person?
Our fee structure is performance based. The retainer (Stage 1) is non-returnable, the shortlist fee (Stage 2) depends on submitting candidates who meet the specification. The placement fee (Stage 3) is payable on appointment. So if we are unable to shortlist candidates, you only pay Stage 1. If after shortlist you cannot make a placement you do not pay Stage 3.
What if we have to cancel the assignment?
We will make a pro-rated charge calculated on time spent and work done.
Fees are usually based on a percentage of the first year’s remuneration and are split into three instalments: retainer, shortlist and appointment. In some circumstances, where we are asked to approach a limited number of people already known to the client we charge by the hour, which can be very cost effective.
Are there any additional costs?
Expenses incurred during the course of the project such as telephone calls, fax, postage, candidate and consultant travel will be charged, as will the cost of advertising.
If we engage you how do we know that you won’t then approach our staff on behalf of other clients?
We have a strict off limits policy. Once we work for you we do not approach your staff for at least one year after completion of the last assignment. We never approach candidates appointed by us into your organisation.
How many candidates comprise a shortlist?
This is normally between three and six people depending on the assignment i.e. how specialised it is, the size of the candidate pool etc.
What if the candidate leaves soon after they’ve joined?
We will redo the assignment for no additional cost other than expenses.
Our main measure is retention i.e. how long a candidate stays with you. 90% of our candidates stay with the client 3 years plus - many are promoted within their businesses.
